Carter Scores 17 As Tigers Dominate Mississippi Valley State On Senior Day

Texas Southern had a successful senior day as they went on a 22-3 first half run to secure control in a 79-38 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.

TSU honored nine seniors prior to the game in Grayson Carter, Mario Davis, Zaire Hayes, Kenny Hunter, Oumar Koureissi, Kavion McClain, Duane Posey, Jaylin Jackson-Posey and Jaylen Wysinger.

Grayson Carter established his dominance early on playing in his final game inside H&PE Arena. Tied at 13-all, Carter sparked a 22-3 first half run with seven points as TSU held MVSU to only one field goal over the final eight minutes while shooting 10-of-13 from the field en route to a 35-16 halftime lead.

TSU never took its foot off the gas in the second half as they opened on a 27-2 run to lead 62-21 with 11:08 left. Carter scored seven points during run as seven Tigers scored. TSU never looked back as they held MVSU to its lowest point total in the series since 2013 and lowest by an opponent since 2022.

Carter led the way with 17 points and seven rebounds on 8-of-11 shooting. Oumar Koureissi followed with 12 while Zytarious Mortle had 10. Kehlin Farooq had a game-high nine rebounds while Zaire Hayes had six assists.

TSU is back in action for its home finale Monday night at 7 p.m. against Arkansas-Pine Bluff inside the H&PE Arena.
