• TSU returns two starters, Daeja Holmes and Aaliyah Henderson, and one letterwinner, Maci Quiller, from last season, while adding nine newcomers to the roster during the offseason.

• Head Coach Vernette Skeete enters her fourth season at TSU. Last season, she guided the Tigers to a 14–4 SWAC record, finishing tied for second place and reaching the SWAC Tournament semifinals—a dramatic turnaround from her first two seasons (9–49 overall).
• Under Skeete, TSU made its first-ever postseason appearance last season, hosting a historic WNIT game at TSU and advancing to the second round before falling to Louisiana Tech.
• UT Arlington is led by sixth-year head coach Shereka Wright, who has guided the Lady Mavs to significant success during her tenure. Wright led UTA to an NCAA Tournament appearance in her second season and earned Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors during that campaign.
• In the 2024–25 season, Wright directed the Lady Mavs to their best regular-season and tournament finish since joining the WAC. UTA entered the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed and advanced to the WAC Championship Game, where they fell to top-seeded Grand Canyon.
UTA also earned its first WNIT appearance since 2019 and the fifth in program history.
• The Lady Mavs secured their second postseason victory in program history with a win over Incarnate Word before concluding their season with a loss to North Texas.
• TSU was picked to finish fourth in the SWAC's Preseason Poll.
• TSU will rely heavily on leadership from Holmes and Henderson while integrating nine newcomers into the rotation.
• TSU head coach Vernette Skeete has yet to win a game in December.
