HOUSTON – Texas Southern collected a 10-0 victory in eight innings on Sunday at MacGregor Field to collect the series sweep over Southern. TSU won game two of the series 5-4 leading up to a dominating performance by the team on Senior Day.Â
Texas Southern got on the board in the first on a two-run home run by Javier Valdez. The Tigers added two more runs in the third when Chris Scroggins singled in Ryan Lazo and Kamren Dukes.
TSU added a four spot in the sixth inning. Blake Hicks and Joel Rosario-Alicea both tallied RBI-singles while Dukes followed up with a two-RBI single. Horace Leblanc picked up a RBI after drawing a walk in the seventh while Scroggins tallied a second RBI single in the eighth.
TSU's Robert Pearson scattered five hits, walked four and struck out four over seven innings of work to get the win.
Southern's J'Markus George gave up 10 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits, struck out seven and walked five in seven-plus innings for the loss.Â
