STILLWATER, Okla.- Brittney Martin hit 10 of 14 shots, made four steals and scored 27 points as No. 21 Oklahoma State broke away from Texas Southern 77-58 on Sunday.
Brianna Sidney scored 14 for Texas Southern (0-1).
The Lady Tigers stayed fairly close to Oklahoma State for a half, closing to within 42-33 when Diamonisha Sophus scored right after halftime.
But in the next few minutes, Texas Southern missed five shots, turned the ball over four times and committed two fouls, and trailed 51-33 by the time they scored again on a Sidney 3-pointer.
Martin scored four of her points in that span and had two steals as the lead stayed nine points or better. The Cowgirls finished with 14 steals and forced 25 turnovers.
