  • Title
First Assistant Coach / Chief of Analytics

Tonysha Curry joined the Texas Southern staff in the summer of 2025, she serves as the First Assistant Coach and Chief of Analytics for the Texas Southern University women’s basketball program, bringing a powerful combination of competitive playing experience and data-driven coaching insight to the Tigers’ bench.

A former standout at Florida Southwestern State College (FSW), Curry helped lead the Bucs to a 30-4 record, a Suncoast Conference Championship, and their first-ever NJCAA National Tournament win.
Following her time at FSW, Curry continued her playing career at Stetson University and Indiana State University, where she appeared in 71 games and made 32 starts. She began her coaching journey as a Graduate Assistant at Indiana State, where she developed a passion for analytics and player development.

Before joining Texas Southern, Curry returned to Florida Southwestern as an assistant coach, where she helped lead FSW to a 25-6 record mark, a program record of 17 conference wins, and a 2024-2025 Citrus Conference Championship. Florida Southwestern spent the entirety of the regular season in the Top 25 of the NJCAA Rankings. This in turn granted them an at-large bid to the 2024-2025 NJCAA National Tournament which hadn’t been done in school history since her playing career in 2018-2019. Historically, she became the first student athlete at Florida Southwestern State college to return as a coach for any sport at the college, as well as the first student athlete to win a Citrus Conference Championship and make a NJCAA national tournament appearance and win a national tournament game as both a player and later as an assistant coach all in one season.

Now at Texas Southern, Coach Curry leverages her analytical expertise and on-court experience to support game planning, player development, and performance optimization. Her innovative approach and leadership continue to elevate the program’s competitive edge.
