Mi’cole Cayton joined the Texas Southern University women’s basketball staff in the summer of 2025 as an Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator, bringing a wealth of experience as a former Division I student-athlete and a rising star in collegiate coaching.
A native of California, Cayton played collegiately at both the University of Nebraska and the University of Missouri–Kansas City (UMKC), where she was known for her tenacity, leadership, and defensive prowess. Her playing career was marked by resilience and a deep understanding of the game, qualities that have seamlessly translated into her coaching style.
Prior to joining Texas Southern, Cayton served in various developmental and support roles, where she honed her skills in player development, scouting, and recruiting. Her passion for mentorship and her ability to connect with student-athletes make her a vital asset to the Tigers’ program.
As Recruiting Coordinator, Cayton is responsible for identifying and attracting top-tier talent to Texas Southern, while also contributing to game planning, skill development, and team culture. Her energy, relatability, and basketball IQ are instrumental in shaping the future of the program.
