Pointer Williams

This is Pointer Williams first season as Director of Basketball Operations for Texas Southern University Men’s Basketball Program. Coach William’s goal is to help young student-athletes build confidence by bringing a deep passion for the game and for helping student-athletes achieve their highest potential. Before graduating McNeese State university in Lake Charles Louisiana; with a Bachelors degree in Mass Communications, Williams was a college player who earned Southland`s Newcomer of the Year Award, and was the NCAA Individual Steals Leader, 116 steals  in 1996.

Before serving his country in the Army Honor Guard, The Presidential Salute battery to the President of United states, he was drafted to the Continental Basketball League, (CBA) by the Quad City Thunder. He was then traded and finished that season with The Fargo Bees in Fargo, North Dakota. For the next three years he played professionally overseas in Poland and Lithuania.

In 2006 Coach Williams became assistant coach at Dillard University, where his responsibilities included developing perimeter players, monitoring player’s class performance, and coordinating individual workouts. As a recruiter, he recruited players like Cedric Royal (6’7”, 250 lbs.) from Holy Cross High School, in New Orleans, LA and Thomas Fraize (6’6”, 245 lbs.) from Pearl River Community College, Waveland, MS.
