One of the most highly respected young offensive minds in the game Vyron Brown serves as Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator at Texas Southern.
After serving two years as running backs coach at Alabama State University, former Grambling State running back, Vyron Brown, returned to GSU as offensive coordinator. In 2011 Grambling State finished the year been SWAC Champions with a record of 8-4. Grambling State was the fifth ranked offense in the conference with 24.2 points per game.
During his time at Alabama State, Brown was a part of the 2010 Southwestern Athletic Conference eastern division championship team and also served as an assistant coach on the west squad of the inaugural HBCU Bowl. While at Alabama State, Brown’s offense totaled 6, 365 overall yards and had a player in the top ten spot of every offensive position. He has had two players to rush for over 500 yards and two to pass for over 1,500.
Brown has served as offensive coordinator/running backs coach at Shaw University where he guided the offense to the top of the CIAA conference in scoring with 40.6 points per game and the 2008 CIAA Championship. Prior to joining the staff at Shaw, Brown served one year as Interim Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator at Southern Lab High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he led the Kittens to the 2007 High School Playoffs.
From 2004-06, Brown served as running backs coach at Grambling State University and was an integral part of the Tigers’ 2005 Co-National and SWAC championship season. Along with his on the field duties Brown served as NFL liaison and recruiting coordinator. He also served as summer football camps coordinator.
Brown’s GSU coaching career also includes stints as a graduate assistant (2002) working with defensive backs and as part-time running backs coach (2003).
He began his coaching career as the offensive coordinator at Carroll High School in Monroe, Louisiana. Also, during the 2012 training camp Brown was selected for the Bill Walsh Fellowship Program Internship with the Kansas City Chiefs.
A Grambling graduate with both a bachelors (electronics engineering technology, 2001) and masters (public administration, 2003) degree, Brown was a two-time captain and member of back-to-back National and SWAC Championship teams.
A native of Shreveport, Louisiana Brown is the father of three sons, Vyron, Isaiah and Jeremiah. He is also a member of the American Football Coaches Association.
