DeShawn Haney enters his first season coaching tight ends at Texas Southern.
 
Haney arrives in Houston after spending the 2023 season as a graduate assistant at Eastern Michigan University of the MAC. Haney played a part in EMU earning a berth to the 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile, Ala. in 2023.
 
Haney has had the opportunity to learn and accumulate ideas from a variety of coaches as he has also spent time as graduate assistant and recruiting specialist at Western Illinois along with a stint at Northern Arizona and Lincoln University as an offensive line graduate assistant.
 
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Haney played offensive line and defensive line at Lincoln University. He holds a Bachelor’s in Sports Management and Master’s of Business Administration from Lincoln University.
