Charles Nichols

Charles Nichols begins his fourth season as Director of Football Operations at Texas Southern.

Nichols primarily handles team logistics and oversees all football-related functions of the team, including player personnel, coaching matters, medical, equipment, video, community engagement and security.

Nichols came to Texas Southern after spending the two seasons at Florida State University serving as the Assistant to Head Football Coach Willie Taggart. In his role he was responsible for all administrative duties and assisted in day-to-day Football operations, recruiting and summer camps. Nichols worked closely with the Sports Information Director pertaining to all media requests for all FSU Coaches and players in season and out of season. He also worked with the Seminoles Boosters on various occasions dealing with the Seminole Football team and Coaches.

Nichols went to Florida State University after a very successful career as a High School Social Studies teacher and coach which spanned over 20 years in Texas and Kentucky. He coached and taught at Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas under Craig Stump and Dean Colbert. Prior to that he coached and taught at Nimitz High School and Beaumont Central under David Suggs. His career began in Bowling Green, Ky. at Greenwood High School and later continued at Scott County High School in Georgetown, Ky. under Jim McKee.

Nichols was named Teacher of the Year three times in three different schools, helping numerous student/athletes go to college to participate in Collegiate athletics. Nichols lives by the motto: In it for the outcome, not the income.

Nichols, a letterman for the Hilltopper Football team at defensive back from 1992-94, has a Bachelor's Degree in Print Journalism and Teachers’ Certification from Western Kentucky University. He is also a lifetime member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Charles and his wife Monica, are the proud parents of a son (Caleb).
