• Texas Southern opens the 2026 season on the road at UTRGV Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. in Edinburg, Texas.
• TSU's schedule features 10 non-conference contests and eight league contests. TSU has a regional friendly schedule as they won't leave the state of Texas until the start of SWAC play on Sept. 27 against UAPB.
• Picked fifth in the preseason poll, TSU finished tied for third in the SWAC with a 5-2-1 mark in head coach Danesha Adams' first season.
• Adams is 9-8-5 all-time in the month of August and 1-3-1 at TSU. However, the 2025 season came to an abrupt end in the first round of the SWAC Tournament to Alcorn State.
• The Tigers lost a large amount of letterwinners at the close of the 2025 season which sent head coach Danesha Adams into recruiting mode at the end of the year. TSU welcomes 14 newcomers and 15 letterwinners for the 2026 season.
• TSU head coach Danesha Adams faces UTRGV fo the second consecutive year and second time as a head coach. Both teams will meet for the third straight year as they tied 3-3 in 2025 in Houston. In 2024, TSU won 1-0 in Edinburg.
• UTRGV new head coach Nataki Stewart faced TSU last season while coaching the University of St. Thomas in Houston. TSU claimed a 3-0 decision in Houston last year.
• TSU defender Kaia Butler was named to the 2026 AII-SWAC Preseason Second Team.
