HOUSTON — Texas Southern showed grit and flashes of offensive promise Thursday evening at Durley Field but ultimately fell 3-0 to a disciplined Fresno State squad.
The Bulldogs struck early, with Alexis Campbell netting an unassisted goal in the 10th minute. Despite trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Tigers remained composed and competitive throughout the match.
Texas Southern's best scoring opportunities came from Kamara Bradley and Savannah Muldrew, both of whom forced saves from Fresno State's goalkeepers. Liliane Clase Baez and Clara Dotigny also registered shots on target, keeping pressure on the Bulldogs' back line.
Fresno State added two goals in quick succession midway through the second half, but the Lady Tigers continued to battle. The defensive unit—anchored by Akiya Saine, Gabriela Gonzalez, and Bailey Buckner—held firm against a Fresno State offense that earned six corner kicks and maintained 68% possession.
Texas Southern was held without a corner kick and committed 11 fouls, showing physicality and hustle throughout the match. The Lady Tigers were flagged for one offside and held 32% of possession.
"We were in the game in the first half. Details—we talk about them every single day—and when we don't take care of those things, it costs us goals," said Head Coach Danesha Adams. "We have to keep working. It's a disappointing loss, to be honest, because I think we had a chance to take care of this game and win it. We had some good moments and a chance early in the game. I think on another day, we probably put it away. It's just a tough result, and I want to keep moving forward."
Texas Southern will look to bounce back at home on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they host UTRGV at Durley Field.
