Tigers Drop Regular Season Finale In See-Saw Fashion

SANFORD, Fla. - Bethune-Cookman claimed the series with a late rally in the final two innings to claim a 10-8 win over TSU on Saturday.

BCU went ahead 1-0 in the second but TSU responded with a five-run third as Bryce Hughes and Jaden Jones combined for three RBI along with Tyler Legendre for a 5-1 lead. The lead was brief as BCU scored four in the bottom half to knot it up but TSU moved ahead 6-5 in the fifth as Legendre's RBI single. BCU on again reclaimed the lead with a two-run fifth (7-6) and added another run in the sixth to lead 8-6. TSU fought back and tied it at 8-all in the seventh on Jaden Flores' and Evan Joubert's RBI doubles. The Wildcats hit a solo homer in the seventh to move ahead 9-8 and added another run in the eighth for the final margin as TSU had a 1-2-3 ninth.

Bryce Hughes and Legendre both had two hits and two RBI while Jones had two RBI. Isaac Garcia was tagged with the loss in relief on the mound.

TSU is back in action for the 2025 SWAC Tournament Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala. at Rickwood Field. The bracket will be announced Saturday evening as projections have TSU scheduled to face Bethune-Cookman once again.
