Menchaca, Wilson Finish 3-for-4 As Softball Claims 7-1 Win At Grambling

RUSTON, La. – Texas Southern softball started its latest road trip on a right note with a 7-1 win over Grambling State on Sunday.
 
TSU broke a scoreless tie in the third after Kylie Wilson's RBI single scored DaNia Durr. Karisma Garcia's sac fly upped the lead to 2-0 followed by an RBI from Destiny Menchaca. Marisa Perla would also score for a 4-0 margin.
 
GSU crossed home a run in the fourth for a 4-1 margin but Lanay Carr's RBI in the fifth moved TSU ahead 5-1. TSU tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh as they closed out the bottom frame for the win.
 
Wilson and Menchaca both finished 3-for-4 while Menchaca and Carr drove in two RBI. Wilson struck out five on four hits in the complete game effort.
 
The series concludes with an 11 a.m. doubleheader on Monday at the Ruston Sports Complex.
