Softball Falls To Late PVAMU Rally In Series Opener On Friday

Prairie View A&M scored five runs over the final two innings to rally back for a 5-3 win over TSU on Friday at Memorial Park.
 
Kylee Wilson led the game off with a single and would eventually score on Lanay Carr's fielder's choice RBI. TSU tacked on another run in the second as DaNia Durr tripled and scored on Penelope Saenz's RBI groundout.
 
From there, it was all about the defense for both teams but TSU upped its margin to 3-0 in the fifth as Marissa Martinez scored on a PVAMU fielding error. However, PVAMU countered in the sixth with a four-run frame due to timely hitting as TSU saw its lead turn into a 4-3 deficit. The Panthers added an insurance run in the top of the seventh as closed the game out in the bottom frame as TSU had a 1-2-3 inning at the plate.
 
Wilson led TSU with two hits while also falling to 6-6 on the mound this season in 5.1 innings of action.
 
TSU wraps up the series at 12 p.m. tomorrow at Memorial Park as the team will honor a pair of seniors in Madison Battle and Marissa Martinez between games two and three.
