Texas Southern's Strong Defense and Pitching Effort Falls Short Against UAPB Golden Lions

Houston, Texas – Texas Southern faced a tough defeat against UAPB Golden Lions, losing 4-0 on Friday.

Despite the loss, there were several standout performances from the Texas Southern team. Calvin McClendon pitched a solid game, going seven innings and allowing only two runs on five hits. He struck out five batters and didn't walk any, showcasing his control and skill on the mound. Jaden Jones led the offensive effort for Texas Southern, going 3-for-4 at the plate. The team displayed excellent fielding, committing no errors throughout the game. Elijah Rodriguez had the most chances in the field with seven, contributing to the team's strong defensive performance. Carlos Rodriguez-Valez drove the middle of the lineup, leading UAPB Golden Lions with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Gries-Smith and Jesus Riera each collected two hits for UAPB Golden Lions. UAPB Golden Lions turned two double plays in the game.

The Tigers are back in action at MacGregor Park on Saturday, April 12, for day two against UAPB. First pitch is at 2 pm.
