Tigers Drop Road Contest At Jackson State

JACKSON, Miss. – A 21-7 second half run by Jackson State was the difference as TSU fell 67-52 at Jackson State on Saturday.

TSU jumped out to a 9-5 lead early on but JSU took the led six minutes later after an 8-3 run. The lead would change hands over the next several minutes but JSU closed out the half on an 11-1 run over the final 5:11 for a 31-21 halftime lead.

The Tigers cut the lead to 35-31 after outscoring JSU 10-4 over the first four minuets of the half. JSU would up the lead to 40-31 a minute later but TSU fought back once again and cut the deficit to 42-40 at the 9:33 mark following a 9-2 surge. However, the tide would turn over the next seven minutes as TSU shot 4-of-15 from the field while JSU went on a 21-7 run fueled by 7-for-9 shooting to pull away.

Kehlin Farooq led TSU with 10 points and seven rebounds while Grayson Carter and Zytarious Mortle both had seven rebounds.

TSU closes out its road trip at 6 p.m. Monday against Alcorn State.
