Lady Tigers Roar Back with Dominant 73-59 Victory Over Arkansas Pine-Bluff

Houston, Tx- The Lady Tigers bounced back at home with an impressive 73-59 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff!

The game started scrappy, with UAPB taking an early lead thanks to strong defensive plays and key steals from Briontanay Marshall and Ashley Rojas. Despite TSU's efforts, including a crucial jumper by Maci Quiller and a driving layup by Daeja Holmes, UAPB maintained their advantage. D'Arrah Allen's three-pointers were pivotal in extending UAPB's lead. Both teams showed resilience with multiple turnovers and rebounds, but UAPB's consistent scoring helped them stay ahead, ending the first quarter with a 15-12 lead over TSU.

The Lady Tigers began to put it all together in the second quarter. Two big three-pointers from Anela Thomas sparked the comeback they needed. Tiana Mathis and Aylasia Fantroy hit significant free throws, while Deivejon Harris and Maci Quiller made crucial jumpers. TSU's efforts paid off as they outscored UAPB, narrowing the lead and keeping the game competitive. By halftime, the Lady Tigers had taken the lead, 34-28.

After the half, Texas Southern maintained their momentum with a combination of strong defense and timely scoring. Deivejon Harris and Treasure Thompson made crucial layups and jumpers to keep the pressure on UAPB. The Lady Tigers ended the third quarter with a solid lead, 51-47.

In the final quarter, Texas Southern solidified their lead with a strong offensive push, stretching the margin. Courtlyn Loudermill and Aylasia Fantroy were instrumental, with Loudermill scoring 18 points and Fantroy contributing 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jaida Belton, Treasure Thompson, and Daeja Holmes each contributed 8 points to the count. The Lady Tigers' consistent performance helped them secure a needed victory.
