TSU Bench Shines Against Power-Five Opponent

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Texas Southern women's basketball ran into one of the nation's hottest teams Saturday afternoon, falling 96–46 to undefeated Vanderbilt at Memorial Gymnasium. Despite the final margin, TSU showed resilience, especially out of halftime, where the Tigers delivered their strongest stretch.

Vanderbilt came out firing, hitting six threes in the opening quarter to build a 24–5 lead. Texas Southern , playing its third Power Five opponent of the month, struggled early from the field but continued to compete on both ends.

The Tigers' brightest surge came in the third quarter, where they put up 23 points—more than their entire first half combined. Guard Taliyah Logwood led the push, finishing with 11 points, four rebounds, and steady two‑way energy that helped TSU settle into its rhythm. Jordyn Marshall added 10 points, including a perfect 5‑for‑5 at the line, while Lauren Perry chipped in eight points and four boards.

TSU also found success in transition, generating 12 fast‑break points and forcing Vanderbilt into 18 turnovers. The Tigers' bench contributed 23 points, showing the depth and fight that have defined the program's identity.

Vanderbilt's shooting proved the difference, knocking down 18 threes and shooting 47.8% from the field. Justine Pissott led all scorers with 25 points for the Commodores.
