The TSU men's and women's cross country team opened the 2024 season at the Rice Invitational on Friday.
The women's cross country team had an eighth-place finish as Alyvia Brown was TSU's top finisher after placing 15th overall in a time of 15:15.5. Jessica Williams followed with a run of 16:13.7 as Dakota Gaston (18:08), Desirae Roberts (21:36.3) and Ruby Rangel (22:03.7) rounded out the runners.
The TSU men's cross country team placed sixth overall.
Newcomer Brandon Aldophus led the way for TSU as he ran the course in a time of 16:35.3 to place 16th overall. Fellow newcomer Manuel Garza (17:04.5) finished second on the team followed by Roberto Rodriguez (18:08.3), Gael Flores (18:21.8), Jeremiah Barrera (18:24.6) and Bruce Prince (19:44.8).
Both teams are back in action at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Ark. on Sept. 28.
