Belton Posts Double-Double With 3 Blocks At Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – A second quarter surge by Texas A&M set the tone as TSU fell 85-60 at Texas A&M on Monday.

TSU fought back from an early 15-8 deficit with a 9-0 surge fueled by four points from Aaliyah Henderson.  With TSU holding a 17-15 lead, the Aggies closed the quarter out with vengeance with a 9-2 run to lead 24-19.

TSU let the game slip away after a 15-2 run by Texas A&M to open the second quarter for a 39-21 deficit at the 5:03 mark. The closest TSU would get was 14 on two occasions as they trailed 45-29 at the break.

The second half hole was too deep to climb out of for the Tigers from that point as Texas A&M maintained its double digit led throughout the half.

Courtlyn Loudermill, Jaida Belton and Anela Thomas all had double digit points with 12, 12 and 10, respectively. Aaliyah Henderson had four steals while Belton had a double-double after grabbing 10 rebounds. Defensively, blocks were plentiful for TSU as Belton and Treasure Thompson had three blocks each.

TSU heads to the West Coast to face Cal Baptist on Thursday afternoon.
