GRAMBLING, La. - TSU Volleyball's 2024 campaign came to an unfortunate end in the first round of the SWAC Tournament after a 3-1 loss to Bethune-Cookman on Friday.

Ahead 20-16 in set one, the Tigers fell victim to a 9-2 run by BCU as they dropped the first set 25-21. They would regroup in set two as they broke open a close game with an 8-2 surge to lead 18-11. BCU would narrow the gap to five on several occasions but the TSU defense came up big and gave the team a spark as they outscored BCU 4-2 to win 25-18.

The Wildcats opened set three with a 5-2 lead but TSU regrouped with a 6-2 run led by its defense once again to lead 8-7. BCU answered with a 5-0 surge but the Tigers once again fought back and took a 15-14 lead led by Gracie Lee's two kills. A 7-1 BCU run would send the momentum back to the Wildcats as they led 21-16 but TSU closed the gap to 21-19. However, BCU would seal the set with four of the next five points to win 25-20.

TSU took an 11-10 lead in set four after back-to-back kills but three attack errors sparked a 7-0 run by BCU as they claimed a 17-11 lead. TSU would close the gap to 20-16 but the Wildcats closed out the match by scoring five of the next eight points to win 25-18.

Gracie Hill led TSU with 15 kills followed by 11 from Taryn Stafford. Kennedi Walker closed out the match with 40 assists while Angelika Rusin had 17 digs while Hill had 16.
