A pair of late Prairie View A&M runs in the first two sets set the tone as TSU fell 3-0 Sunday afternoon at Delmar Fieldhouse.
Â
Played at Delmar due to electrical work inside TSU's home arena, TSU came out strong to open set one with an 8-3 lead. In true rivalry fashion, PVAMU closed the gap to 9-8 but TSU upped the margin to 14-10. PVAMU would tie it at 14-all but two kills from Keldri Young moved TSU back ahead 17-14. However, PVAMU fought back and scored five-of-the-next six points for a 19-18 lead. Both teams would trade points but TSU regained the lead and led 22-21 but three attack errors from TSU paved the way for a late PVAMU run and a 25-22 win in set one.
Â
TSU once again had another strong start as they led 7-3 but PVAMU fought back and the contest was tied at 9-all. They would eventually move ahead 12-10 but TSU fought back and went on an 8-1 run to lead 18-13. A service error by TSU ended the run and gave PVAMU new life as they went on a 5-0 run to knot it at 18-all. It was back-and-forth from that point as TSU regained a 21-20 lead but a 5-1 PVAMU run gave them a 25-22 win.
Â
TSU clawed and scratched for an early 15-12 lead in set three but PVAMU took the momentum back for a 19-16 lead after a 7-1 surge. The Tigers couldn't regain the lead as PVAMU closed out the match 25-19.
Â
Kennedy Reed led TSU with nine kills while Kennedi Walker had 12 assists. Angelika Rusin finished with 16 digs defensively.

TSU is back in action next Sunday for a 3 p.m. match against Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 3 p.m. inside the H&PE Arena.
