• Texas Southern returns to action on Saturday as they'll travel to Florida A&M in Tallahassee, Fla. at 3 p.m.
• Texas Southern is looking to remain in the SWAC race hunt as they defeated Grambling State last week. The Tigers currently sit tied for third in the SWAC standings.
• Saturday's contest will feature live audio on KTSU 90.9 FM and will be shown live on ESPN+.
• TSU has not played in Tallahassee, Fla. since its 2017 season opener as FAMU was a member of the MEAC at the time. Prior to that, TSU last played in Tallahassee, Fla. in 1961.
• TSU leaves the state of Texas for the first time this year. Three of the next four games are on the road out-of-state.
• The defending Celebration Bowl and SWAC Champion, Florida A&M sits in second place in the SWAC East with their lone league loss coming to Jackson State. Under the direction of first-year head coach James Colzie III, FAMU has the second-ranked passing offense in the SWAC. Defensively, passes will be hard to come by as TSU and FAMU rank 2-3 in pass defense.
• TSU had six players earn preseason All-SWAC honors as linebacker Jacob Williams earned first team honors while defensive end Michael Akins, offensive lineman Mehdi Torrence, linebacker Isaiah Bogerty, quarterback Jace Wilson and defensive back Javius Williams earned second team honors.
• TSU was picked to finish sixth in the SWAC West. The Tigers have to replace all-time leading rusher LaDarius Owens at running back as they return five starters on offense and eight on defense.
• FAMU has a five-game winning streak over Texas Southern which dates back to 1966.
• TSU currently ranks fourth overall in total defense in the SWAC (322.7) but has struggled offensively as they rank 10th with 267.4 yards per game.
• Linebacker Jacob Williams is coming off a career season with 106 tackles and eight sacks. TSU has not had back-to-back 100-plus tacklers since linebacker Kevin Harris from 1988-90. Williams was TSU's first 100-plus tackler since 2004.
• Cris Dishman is the 18th head coach in the history of Texas Southern Football. Dishman inherits a tough task as the program has only had 28 winning seasons in 77 years of existence and hasn't recorded a winning season since 2000.
