Softball Falls Twice In Tourney Finale

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas Southern dropped a pair of games to Tennessee State and Texas A&M on the final day of the Reveille Classic at Texas A&M.

TENNESSEE STATE 8, TSU 3
Tennessee State scored six runs over the final three innings to pull away from TSU 8-3 in the opener Sunday morning.

Tennessee State scored with two outs in the third as a walk and double led to the game's first run. TSU would answer back with a run in the bottom frame as Pamela Richardson walked, stole second and scored on Crimson Davis' RBI.

Tennessee State once again scored with two outs in the fourth on a hit batter before moving ahead 5-1 after a three-run fifth. TSU crossed home a pair of runs in the fifth to draw within 5-3 but Tennessee State tacked on three more in the seventh to pull away.

Davis finished 2-for-4 while Richardson scored twice. Jazmine Gendorf was tagged with the loss as she pitched 4.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.

TEXAS A&M 9, TSU 1
An eight-run first inning by Texas A&M was the difference as TSU dropped the tourney finale by an 8-1 margin.

After a scoreless top of the first by TSU, Texas A&M's first four batters recorded hits which led to three runs. The Aggies would draw two walks before a three-RBI double and two more RBI for the 8-0 lead.

Tierrah Williams doubled home Julia Bilbao for TSU's first run in the second. The Tigers had another shot at scoring in the third as Crimson Davis moved to third on Tamera McKnight's double but couldn't capitalize due to an inning-ending groundout. The Aggies would add another run in the third for the game's final score.

Davis, Daryn Haslam, McKnight and Williams all had hits for TSU while Naomi Reyes took the loss on the mound.

TSU is back in action on Tuesday at Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas for a 2 p.n. doubleheader.
