After a pitching change, TSU's Johnathan Thomas singled but Goudeau was thrown out at home attempting to score.

TSU went to the bullpen in the eighth and ran into an early jam with two walks which forced another change on the mound as Adolf Castillo replaced George Osborne. A wild pitch moved both runners to second and third followed by a walk which loaded the bases. UTRGV scored the game's first run on a sac fly before TSU recorded consecutive outs.

UTRGV had a 1-2-3 ninth to close out the contest.
