PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Tigers of Texas Southern University scored runs early and often Friday as they crushed in-state rival Prairie View A&M 34-2 in seven innings.

Nine different players had multiple RBIs for the Tigers (5-15), who improved to 3-4 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Olajide Oloruntimilehin led the Tigers with seven RBIs and five runs scored; he went 2-for-6 with a three-run home run and a three-run double.

Oscar Ponce went 3-for-6 with four RBIs and four runs scored, while Nic Garza, Christian Sanchez, and Austin Garcia knocked in three runs apiece. Sanchez' three RBIs came on a three-run home run in the third inning.

The Tigers jumped out to a 6-0 lead a half-inning of play, which was all the support pitcher Aron Solis needed. Solis pitched six innings and scattered six hits while striking out six batters.

TSU added seven more in the third inning and then scored nine runs in the fourth inning to stretch its lead to 22-0. The Tigers also scored nine runs in the top of the sixth to stretch their lead to 31-1.

The visitors pounded out 24 hits in the game and were assisted by nine Prairie View errors.
