LORMAN, Miss. – Texas Southern defeated Alcorn State 57-53 in a very tight contest on Monday night. The Lady Tigers were led by Joyce Kennerson, who netted 24 points along with three boards and two steals in the win.
The Lady Braves were led by Henrietta Wells, who netted 10 points along with 15 boards for a double-double. Alexus Freeman contributed 16 points along with six assists in the loss.
Alcorn State took the lead early on as the Lady Braves led 14-12 after the first quarter.Â
ASU would outscore Texas Southern (7-5, 1-0 SWAC) 12-10 in the second quarter to take a 26-22 halftime lead. Texas Southern would come back in the second half.Â
The Lady Tigers would outscore Alcorn State 35-27 in the second half to take the win.
