PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Texas Southern's Lauren Rodriguez (8-7) struck out seven in the Lady Tigers' 5-2 win over rival Prairie View A&M Friday afternoon.
Texas Southern got a two-run single from Kacey Creel to go up 3-0 at the end of one.
TSU would scatter two more RBI through the course of the game to protect its lead, as PVAMU was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh via RBI singles by Briana Knowles and Kelsey Coronado.
Shelby Williams was 4-for-4 for the Panthers, and Daneisha Hinton was 2-for-4. TSU's Domonique Tello and Haley Smith each had two hits. Rodriguez allowed eight hits in the win. Felicia Camargo received the loss, allowing five hits and three runs in 1.0 innings.
