BATON ROUGE, La. – Ladeyh Forte's layup with one second left in the game proved not enough for a Texas Southern victory as the Lady Tigers fell to Southern, 56-55.
Both teams are now tied for first place in the Conference with a 13 -4 SWAC record.
The Jaguars were paced by Briana Green (6-11) and Cortnei Purnell (6-13), each managing 14 points – Green with 10 rebounds. Miaya Crowder contributed 12 points with four rebounds, while Britney Washington hit nine points with five rebounds.
SU forced 20 turnovers and shot 42.1 percent from the field.
Joyce Kennerson tallied a game-high 19 points for TSU with six rebounds, two assists and four steals.
She connected on six of her 15 attempts from the field and only missed one free throw (3-4).Keiana Vines and Brianna Sidney provided 15 points while Vines also contributed seven rebounds.
The Lady Tigers forced 14 turnovers and recorded a shooting percentage of 36.7 for the night – 75 percent at the line.
