Box Score HOUSTON, Texas – No. 19 Houston defeated Texas Southern 7-1 on Wednesday at Schroeder Park.
Texas Southern (7-11) was held to three hits, and off of the scoreboard until the top of the ninth when Gerreck Jimenez hit a single through the right side to score Ryan Lazo.
The Houston (10-6) offense was led by Jose Reyes 4-for-4 day at the plate, including a double and a triple.
Texas Southern starter Robert Pearson (1-2) took the loss after giving up three (two earned) runs on five hits. He walked one and threw one wild pitch and a balk over three and two-third of an inning of action.
Houston's Mitch Ullom (2-1) tossed eight and two-thirds of an inning to get the victory. Ullom allowed one unearned run on three hits, striking out seven and walking one.
