HOUSTON– Texas Southern won a 6-5 rubber match on Sunday in front of an energetic home crowd at MacGregor Park.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-13, 1-2 SWAC) scored first with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to push Alderly Perez home after he reached on a double and advanced on a wild pitch.
Texas Southern (6-9, 2-1 SWAC) jumped on the scoreboard in the second with two-run home run by Rosario and a second two-run homer in the following inning by Gerreck Jiminez.
A solo home run by Sydney Daley in the fifth pushed Media from the game, giving the Tigers a 6-3 lead.
The Golden Lions tallied single runs in the fourth and fifth, as well as two in the six, but their rally fell short.
UAPB's Medina allowed all six runs on six hits, walked four and struck out 11 in four and two-thirds of an inning in the loss.
TSU hurler Ryan Rios collected the victory a five and two-third of an inning of work. Rios gave up five runs (four earned) on six hits, struck out five and walked one.
Robert Pearson (2) collected the save with a three and a third of an inning work in relief, scattering two hits and striking out four.
