PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Texas Southern defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff 57-51 Monday night at the H.O. Clemmons Arena.
Lady Tigers' Joyce Kennerson and Keiana Vines each scored a game-high 18 points. Vines registered a double-double, managing 11 rebounds – 10 of which were defensive. Toni Cheadle contributed 10 points and six rebounds, while Brianna Sidney produced five points with six rebounds.
The Lady Tigers struggled in shooting, gathering a field percentage of 31.6. They netted 25 percent of their shots in three-point range and collected 89.5 percent of their attempts at the line.
UAPB was led by Niya Head who recorded 14 points while grabbing 10 boards – her fifth double-double of the season. Destiny Brewton hit double digits in scoring, adding 10 points, six assists and one rebound to the Lady Lions' resume.
The Lady Lions shot from the field at 41.8 percent while making 30 percent of their three-pointers and 40 percent of their free throw attempts.
TSU forced five more turnovers than it committed at 12.
