JACKSON, Miss. – Texas Southern wide receiver Derrick Griffin caught four passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns but the Jackson State Tigers held off a Texas Southern comeback attempt with a 34-30 win on Saturday.
Texas Southern was without starting quarterback Johnathan Bowen during the game as Averion Hurts made his first career start at TSU completing 12-of-30 passes for 174 yards and three scores.
Darrell Robinson carried the ball 11 times for 88 yards and a touchdown as he led the team in rushing yards.
Defensively Texas Southern allowed 521 yards of total offense including 370 yards passing and 151 yards on the ground.
The Tigers will look to rebound this Thursday, Oct. 1st as they get set to host Alabama State at BBVA Compass Stadium.
