HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers basketball team clinched the 2014-15 SWAC Regular Season title outright by routing the Alcorn State Braves 94-73 Thursday night at the HPE Arena.Â

Deverell Biggs and Madarious Gibbs both scored a team high 21 points. Malcolm Riley and David Blanks chipped in, scoring 15 points each, as TSU's balanced scoring proved to be too much for the visiting Braves.

The game was competitive throughout the first half as Alcorn State played the Tigers tough in the early going.Â

TSU would eventually pull away and create distance between themselves and Alcorn State on a jumper by Madarious Gibbs with 3:09 to play in the first half which gave the Tigers a 38-25 lead. Texas Southern led 40-30 at the half.

The second half belonged to the Tigers. They blew the game open on a barrage 3-point shots late in the second half. A 3-pointer by David Blanks with 4:13 to play gave TSU the lead 82-64 to put the game out of reach.Â

Texas Southern shot 63 percent from the field, 6-of-15 from beyond the arc, and 22-of-30 from the free throw line. Alcorn State's Marquis Vance led all scorers with 26 points.
