VICTORIA, Texas- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers softball team swept past the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars on Tuesday, March 17 winning a doubleheader set 16-7 in five innings and 7-0 in game two.
Thomasina Garza racked up 4 RBIs in game one in four at bats. Brianna Simpson drove in three runs while Chanler Powell contributed two RBIs.
TSU's Sammantha Jimenez was credited with the win as she pitched 3.1 innings allowing four earned runs.
Texas Southern posted eight runs in the first inning of play and never trailed during the contest.
Ā In game number two a four run second inning broke thing open for the Lady Tigers as they took a 5-0 advantage early in the game.
TSU tallied nine hits while Jasmine Fulmore, Lauren Rodriguez, and Brianna Bryant combined for a three hitter while collectively striking out seven batters.Ā
