Softball opens SWAC Round-Up with a win over Jackson State

CONROE, Texas – Texas Southern defeated Jackson State, 8-3 at the SWAC Round Up to open interleague play.

JSU scored the first run of the game, but TSU countered with three runs in the frame.

The Lady Tigers broke the game open with four runs in the second inning to take a 7-2 advantage. Brianna Parker and Thomasina Garza paced TSU's offense with two RBIs each.

Both teams allowed two pitchers to share the mound with TSU's Sammantha Jimenez collecting the win. She contributed four strikeouts and three forced outs.

For the game Texas Southern tallied 10 hits, eight RBIs, 21 putouts and 12 assists.
