Box ScoreFORT WORTH āĀ A seventh inning run proved to be the only difference in regulation between the No. 1 TCU Horned Frogs and the Texas Southern Tigers in a 1-0 victory for TCU on Wednesday night at Lupton Stadium.
Two Tigers pitchers combined to hold the Horned Frogs to just four hits and four base runners in the game.
The Tigers' starter Felix Gomez held the Frogs in check for the majority of the game.Ā TCU singled and stole second with two outs in the fifth, but the Horned Frogs were picked-off to end the inning.Ā TCU singled and stole second with one out in the sixth, but Gomez retired the next two batters to end the frame.
After retiring the first two batters in the seventh, Gomez gave up his only run of the contest with a solo homerun to right center field.
Javier Valdez and Christopher Scroggins each tallied hits for Texas Southern.
Gomez faced a total of 24 batters racking up 10 strikeouts while not allowing any batters to reach base on balls.
Texas Southern will open up conference play this weekend as they get set to host the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions on Friday and Saturday. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 pm on both days at MacGregor Park.Ā
