NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Paced by a double-double from Kianna Vines, Texas Southern pushed past Lipscomb 66-62 Sunday afternoon during the Teresa Phillips Thanksgiving Classic.
Vines managed a team-high17 points and 14 rebounds. Joining her on the offensive prowl was Joyce Kennerson who tallied 13 points, while Breasia McElrath grabbed a second-high seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Bison held the lead throughout most of the game before fading late in the fourth quarter. They were led by Ashley Southern whose double-double, (23 points, 15 rebounds) tied her season-high record. Alex Banks also contributed by scoring 16 points.
Despite going 7-26 from three-point range as a team, Kennerson sank a pair of key three-pointers late to give Texas Southern the win.
After playing exceptionally well over the course of the past two games Vines was rewarded with a selection to the All-Tournament team.Â
