Tigers win second straight defeating SU 59-58

BATON ROUGE, LA.- Deverell Biggs scored 20 points to lead the Texas Southern Tigers to a 59-58 win over the Southern Jaguars on  Monday in front of a national television audience as the game was broadcast live on ESPNU.

Chris Thomas knocked down the first of two free throws with less than a second remaining in the game to lift Texas Southern to the win.

Thomas and Madarious Gibbs each contributed nine points during the contest. Biggs was a dual threat in the contest as he also racked up four steals in thirty minutes of action while Gibbs got a key block for the Tigers late in the game.

Texas Southern is perhaps the hottest team in the conference, riding the wave of upset wins over No. 25 Michigan State and Kansas State before topping Alcorn State in its opener.

The Tigers will face rival Prairie View A&M at the William Nicks Building on Saturday.
