Lady Tigers Soccer defeats Alabama State 2-1 as they remain unbeaten in league play

HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Lady Tigers Soccer team captured a thrilling 2-1 win over Alabama State on Sunday as they rallied from a 1-0 deficit to claim their first win of the season. Marlyn Campa put the Lady Tigers on the board first with a spectacular goal in the 69th minute of play.

Texas Southern took the lead for good on a goal by Rebecca Hajny in the 83rd minute of play. Hajny started the game at goal keeper for the Lady Tigers as she also contributed two saves. Liliana Hernandez turned in a brilliant performance tallying five saves in 45 minutes of action while not allowing the Lady Hornets to put any points on the board in the second half.

"This was a great win for our team," said TSU head coach Kathryn Saunders. "We kept on fighting and eventually we were able to come back and tie the game and later take the lead on two solid goals. I can't say enough about the effort our team put out there tonight, they definitely left it all out on the field."

Texas Southern (1-0-1 SWAC) will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff on October 3 in what should be a competitive match-up against two much improved teams. The Lady Tigers are undefeated in their last three outings.
