FORT WORTH, Texas – TCU senior guard Donielle Breaux posted a game-high 17 points to lead the TCU women's basketball team to a 69-52 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday evening at the University Recreation Center.
TSU got off to a fast start to begin the contest as the Lady Tigers tallied 12 straight points to take a 12-4 lead after the first five minutes of play.
The Horned Frogs quickly cut the deficit to two on back-to-back 3-pointers and a another three point basket and a layup put TCU ahead with a 19-16 advantage with 8:04 remaining in the opening half.
The contest would remain tight for the first eight minutes of the second half. TCU got its first double-digit advantage of the night at 45-35.
With TCU leading by 11 with just under seven minutes to play, TCU grabbed a steal and converted a three pointer to take a 57-43 advantage.
Morgan Simmons and Alexus Johnson tallied 10 points each for Texas Southern while Johnson also nabbed 10 rebounds for her first double-double performance of the season.
