Ricky Hewell begins his third season at Texas Southern as the team's video coordinator.

Since arriving at TSU, Hewell has revamped the team's video operations with the implementation of Keemotion, which is an automated production solution that has streamlined the delivery and editing of the team's practice and game footage. Since 2025, Hewell has added basketball operations to his list of duties and has served as the team's liaison to the athletic department.

A native of Dallas, Hewell comes from High Point University, as he previously served as the team's director of video operations for four seasons.

Hewell worked with Texas Tech's men's basketball team from 2011-16 as a graduate assistant and then as an assistant video coordinator. Hewell worked with former head coach Tubby Smith during Smith's tenure in Lubbock, Texas from 2013-16.

Since working with the Red Raider men's basketball team, Hewell has been a volunteer boys basketball coach at Estacado High School and as a video board operator with Texas Tech Broadcast Services.

Hewell was a four-year manager for the men's basketball team and graduated from Texas Tech in 2011 with an undergraduate degree in exercise and sports sciences. He earned his master's degree from Texas Tech in 2013 in interdisciplinary studies with concentrations in sports management and mass communications.
