Charlie Hurd begins his second year at Texas Southern as the team's player development coach.

Hurd came to TSU after spending time at Northwest Florida State College. Prior to Northwest Florida State College, Hurd spent the 2019-20 season at Cornerstone Christian School in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as an assistant coach. 

Prior to his time at Cornerstone, Hurd spent two years as a graduate assistant for the VCU men’s basketball team helping lead the Rams to the NCAA Tournament in 2019. Hurd has also spent time as a skills instructor for Johns Lucas Enterprises and a coach for Houston Hoops travel team.

Hurd began his playing career at Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas, before transferring to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The Houston native led Tarleton State to the Lone Star Conference title in 2011.
