Kemuel Morales

Kemuel Morales begins his seventh season at Texas Southern and his first as the throwing coach for both track & field programs.
 
Since his arrival at TSU, Morales has made an immediate impact with TSU’s throwers as Phylan Perkins has won a pair of SWAC Championships on the women’s side while Hezekiah Freeman was his first SWAC Indoor Championship in 2023 in the shot put while placing third in the weight throw. He has produced six SWAC Champions during his tenure at TSU while 19 earned All-SWAC honors.
 
A 2008 graduate and record-setting thrower at Texas State University, Morales qualified for the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and earned a top-10 finish en route to earning All-American honors. He was a three-time Southland Conference Champion as he finished as one of the most decorated throwers in Texas State and Southland Conference history.
 
Prior to TSU, Morales also served as an assistant at McNeese State from 2009-2013. He coached two NCAA All-Americans while also producing six Southland Conference Champions and the Caribbean Junior Champions. Five student-athletes also broke school records under his watch along with a men’s javelin Olympic trial qualifier.
 
Morales was both a football and track & field standout at Brownsville Pace High School as he earned all-state honors as an offensive lineman and a state runner-up in shot put.
 
He earned a bachelor’s in Exercise Sports Science from Texas State and a master’s in Health and Human Performance/Health Promotions from McNeese State. Morales is certified as a USTFCCA Throws Specialist and also holds a USATF Level I Certification.
