Softball Prepares For Home Opener Tuesday Afternoon At Memorial Park

The Texas Southern University softball team opens its 2026 home schedule versus Huston-Tillotson Tuesday afternoon for a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Memorial Park.

TSU returns to action for the first time since posting a 3-1 mark at the HBCU Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. nearly two weeks ago. This marks the first meeting between TSU and Huston-Tillotson since 2018 as TSU holds a 14-0 mark since 2012.

TSU enters Tuesday's midweek affair with hot bats as KateLynn Cooper (.476), Penelope Saenz (.438) and Jade McQueen (.385) lead the way offensively. McQueen leads TSU with 13 RBI and 22 total bases while also also leading with three homers. Cooper leads TSU with 11 runs scored while tying with McQueen in hits (10).

On the mound, Miranda Pena has 20 strikeouts on the year and a 3-0 mark followed by Zaria Turner's 10 strikeouts.

The team also announced an opponent change next week as the University of St. Thomas will take the place of Howard Payne next Tuesday at 2 p.m. inside Memorial Park.

Live stats are available through TSUSports.com as a live stream won't be determined until close to first pitch.
