TSU 5, ALCORN STATE 3
TSU rallied back from a two-run deficit to win game one 5-3
Â
ASU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third after a solo homer from Olivia Miller and an RBI double from Mariah Morgan. TSU was forced to dip into its bullpen with two outs but reliever Kaelani Randle forced a popout to end the threat.
Â
Down by two entering the fourth, Karisma Garcia opened the inning with a single followed by DaNia Durr's walk. Destiny Menchaca tied it in an instant with a two-RBI double and TSU would keep applying pressure as Lanay Carr recorded an RBI single for a 3-2 lead. After Madison Battle's hit-by-pitch, ASU had to resort to its bullpen but the TSU offense managed to load the bases and Marisa Perla brought in the fourth run after drawing a walk.
Â
Marissa Martinez's RBI single scored pinch runner Kadriana Mincey in the fifth for a 5-3 lead. ASU wouldn't go away in the sixth as they closed to within 5-3 with runners on second and third and one out. The defense came up big on a fielder's choice as they threw out the lead runner at third for the second out. Kylie Wilson came on in relief and struck out ASU's next batter to end the threat.
Â
Wilson had a 1-2-3 seventh to earn her first career save while Wilson earned the win in relief. Carr and Martinez both finished 2-for03 with an RBI while Menchaca added two RBI.

TSU 12, ALCORN STATE 1
After an early nail biter, TSU set the tone early with an eight-run second inning en route to a 12-1 run-rule victory.
Â
ASU scored on a sac fly in the second but TSU took control from that point as Menchaca and Carr both drew walks. An error on Madison Battle's at-bat led to the first run as two hit batters led to a 2-1 lead as Carr scored. Kyle Wilson drove in a pair of runs for a 4-1 margin and forced ASU to use its bullpen early but TSU didn't flinch as Karisma Garcia's single coupled with an ASU error in the outfield led to three runs and a 7-1 lead. Menchaca closed out the scoring in the inning with a sac fly for an 8-1 margin.
Â
Battle led the third off with a walk followed by Martinez's single. Amerie Martin drove in the ninth run of the game while Marisa Perla recorded a sac fly for a 10-1 lead. Garcia's double to left scored Martin as TSU led 11-1. Carr closed out the scoring in the fourth with a solo homer as TSU would run-rule ASU for the second time in three games to secure the win.
Â
Garcia went 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI. Wilson and Martin both added two RBI as Kristen Driver went the distance with two strikeouts while allowing only two hits.
Â
TSU is back in action at home on Wednesday at 1 p.m. against Incarnate Word.
