HCU Claims Win In Final Inning Over Softball

A seventh-inning walk off double was the difference as Houston Christian handed TSU a 3-2 road loss on Tuesday afternoon.
 
HCU would take a 1-0 lead after the third after scoring on a wild pitch and move ahead 2-0 in the fourth on an RBI single to center. TSU fought back in the fifth as Karisma Garcia's hard hit ball to center was caught but Amerie Martin scored from third for a sac fly. Lanay Carr tied it at 2-all with an RBI single to score Kylie Wilson.
 
The contest would remain a defensive struggle until the seventh as HCU drew a one-out walk which paved the way for a game-ending RBI double.
 
Wilson, Marisa Perla and Marissa Martinez all had two hits while Wilson struck out six in four innings of action. Reliever Melonie Guardiola put the final 2.1 innings as she was tagged with the loss.
 
Due to the forecast of inclement weather, its weekend plans are tentative as they'll face UAPB. As of now, the contest is scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. at Deer Park High School as Memorial Park is unavailable due to a golf tournament.
