Wilson Contributes In Two Ways, Martinez Has 4 RBI In 10-1 Win Over Prairie View A&M

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Texas Southern scored five runs in the first and its defense did the rest as they defeated Prairie View A&M 10-1 on Friday.
 
Freshman Kylie Wilson opened the game with a leadoff single and moved to third after a PVAMU error which also allowed Marisa Perla to reach base. Wilson scored on a passed ball and Perla scored on a Karisma Garcia RBI to lead 2-0. Destiny Menchaca drove in the third run of the game followed by Marissa Martinez's two-RBI double for a 5-0 lead.
 
From there, Wilson took control on the mound as she only allowed four hits the remainder of the game while the offense added a run in the fifth and a three-run sixth as they would trigger the run-rule in the sixth.
 
Wilson finished 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI while Menchaca, Lanay Carr and Martinez had two hits. Martinez also had four RBI while Amerie Martin drove in two runs. Wilson threw a four-hitter while striking out three.
 
The series resumes at 12 p.m. tomorrow in Prairie View.
