TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - TSU men's cross country quest at a three-peat fell eight points short as they placed second after an intense race at the 2025 SWAC Championship on Monday.
Sophomore Manuel Garza was the top performer for TSU as he completed the race in a time of 26:32 which was good for sixth. The Tigers made things interesting midway through the event as Bethune-Cookman had three runners claim top-10 finishes to claim an early lead. TSU made a late charge as Jeremiah Barrera (27:34.7), David Livingston (27:47.9) and Gael Flores (27:51.9) finished 11th, 12th and 13th for a brief lead, respectively but BCU managed to cross home its final two runners before TSU's fifth runner finished to win 58-66.
Garza, a native of Deer Park, Texas, earned a spot on the All-SWAC Second Team for the second consecutive year.
